History & heritage

Admitted as the 39th state in 1889 on the same day as South Dakota, North Dakota was shaped by Lakota, Mandan and Arikara nations and by Norwegian and German homesteaders. With the state motto “Liberty and Union, Now and Forever” and a founding year of 1889, North Dakota carries a history you can wear on your chest — that's what our print-on-demand apparel is here for.

Geography & landscape

The Red River flows north along Minnesota, the Missouri bisects the state, and the Badlands rise in the west around Theodore Roosevelt NP. Covering 70,698 sq mi, North Dakota lies in the Midwest region and runs on Central time.
