History & heritage

West Virginia broke from Virginia during the Civil War and was admitted as the 35th state in 1863, the only state formed by seceding from the Confederacy. With the state motto “Montani semper liberi” and a founding year of 1863, West Virginia carries a history you can wear on your chest — that's what our print-on-demand apparel is here for.

Geography & landscape

Entirely within the Appalachian Mountains, West Virginia has more rugged terrain than any state east of the Mississippi and holds the New River Gorge — the newest U.S. national park. Covering 24,230 sq mi, West Virginia lies in the Appalachian region and runs on Eastern time.
